Mango?

Up next we have spiffy new L-OO guitar with Mango? back, sides, and neck sourced from a $10 goodwill coffee table.  Top is "A" spruce (lowest grade) and the fingerboard/bridge is purpleheart.

I decided to go with an offset sound hole / sound port  & a raised / floating fingerboard extension to maximize the amount of freely vibrating soundboard area.

Right out of the gate this one has great sustain and complex overtones. I can't wait to hear how it sounds after it breaks in.

The exact wood is a guess.  While wandering around a goodwill, I spotted a cheap coffee table that looked like it was solid wood and had flame hiding under the stain:

All I could tell from the label is that it was made for Pier1 Imports & if Google is correct it was manufactured in February 2014  (0614 == sixth week of 2014).

Looking through the various wood databases, the only reasonable match for the wood is Mango.  Acacia, Mango, and Rubber wood are common for cheap furniture. This is definitely not Acacia or Rubber.

In addition to the great figure and flame, the variety of colors really pops in person.  It also has a depth to the color layers that simply cannot be photographed. You can see hints of the fluorescent greens in this piece:

I have enough left over to squeeze out another L-00 or a couple of ukuleles.
